Mythology

Welcome to Mythology!

Week of 10/15 - 10/18

Students will test on the "Flower Myths" chapter this week. We will then move on to research projects. Students will work together with a partner and will be assigned a myth to conduct research on. The students will create a power point presentation about the myth they've been assigned and will also create a test that goes along with the power point.  They will become experts on this myth, and will teach their peers about the lessons, characters, and important plot points of the myth they've been assigned.

Week of 10/7 - 10/11

Students will finish the "Earliest Heroes" section of our textbook and move onto the "Flower Myths" this week.

Week of 9/30 - 10/4

This week students are finishing up with our "Two Great Gods of Earth" story (Demeter and Dionysus). We are then going to move on to reading "The Earliest Heroes" chapter of our textbooks.

Week of 9/23 - 9/27

We are finishing watching "Moana" this week in class. Students will complete some worksheets that go along with this movie. Once we are finished with this, we will be moving into our first myth from the textbook, "Demeter and Dionysus."

Week of 9/16 - 9/20

Students will be working on their gods and goddesses projects this week in class. Once these projects are submitted, we will briefly explore some Polynesian Mythology and tie what we learn in with the Greek Mythology we typically study. We will end the Polynesian Mythology section of this course by watching Disney's "Moana."

Week of 9/9 - 9/13

This week students will be taking a test on "The 12 Olympic Gods and Goddesses." We will then complete our notes portion of the course with the last set of notes: "Lesser Gods and Goddesses." Students will be tested on these notes as well. Finally, we will finish up this portion of the course with two projects that showcase what they learned about the gods and goddesses.

**Important Upcoming Events** - Students received information this week about attending the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire. The field trip will take place on Thursday, October 10. Permission slips and check/money ($30.00) are due by Monday September 16.


For this class, students will need a 3-ring binder. Students will not receive a textbook to take home for this course, but may check a textbook out at any time to complete missing assignments or make up readings that they may have missed in class.

Week of 8/26 - 8/30

Students will have their first quiz on their intro notes and intro study guides this week.
